Dear Sloane

Ever since writing Christmas thank you’s, Sloane has developed a big interest in writing letters to friends, mailing them, getting responses and writing back. There isn’t anything more exciting these days than mail!

Often times, instead of mailing letters, she will write me a little note and ask me to write back. This morning she began by writing me a note that said, “Dear Mom, I love you. I can’t wait to be big!” I wrote her back to ask what was so great about being big? This is the response I received.

“I (heart) being big because I want to be big so I can chew gum and loose a tooth.”

I also included 2 other writings from this week. Here are the translations.

“I (heart) you Mommy. Do you love me? Do you, do you? But I really love you Mommy because you are funny!”

“You are my friend mom.”

If I could only keep her this age forever!

Puxatony Santa Claus

Shortly after waking up this morning the girls remembered it was Groundhog Day. They’ve been anxiously awaiting to hear if the groundhog saw his shadow ever since I posted a picture of a groundhog on our preschool calendar.

Sloane excitedly asked, “Mom, did the Groundhog see his shadow?” I replied (with an unfortunate sounding) “yes, so you know what that means?”
To which Sloane ecstatically said, “it means we have 6 more weeks of CHRISTMAS!”

Total excitement for about 30 seconds, until I could stop laughing and tell them the truth about Groundhog Day! Poor Kids.

Triple Lutz

Well… not quite. We had our first go on the ice skates today with Sloane and Reese. They were both troopers and we couldn’t pull Sloane off the ice. Reese was getting a bit chilly and had her fill after a couple go arounds.

We got about 7 requests to go back on the car ride home. Maybe we’ll work on our toe loops next time…

Tree Removal

We had to get a bit creative with removing our Christmas tree this year. Since it wouldn’t fit down our trash chute, we thought this may be our next best option.

Christmas Excitement

Santa and his reindeer landed in Chicago this year! Even without a chimney, he used his “special key” to get in, fill the stockings and left a few goodies for everyone.

We had a great day filled with crazy excitement; which was fun for Greg and I to just sit back and soak in.

Thanks to all of our family that helped to make the day extra special. We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday as well!

Quite the Crafter

Quinn has had her eye on the crayons that the big girls use for a while now. Last week when Sloane and Reese were coloring I couldn’t resist giving her a few to try out. She sat across from them pointing and saying, “peas, peas” (please)! She was thrilled that they produced something on the paper and not so thrilled about how they tasted. Hooray for non-toxic crayons! Now if she could just figure out how to open the glue bottle…
