Burger Season

With Memorial Day passed, the season for grilling out has commenced! The temps are up, the pool is open, and the definition of a good Saturday is hanging out in the water during the day and having a beer over grilled burgers in the evening. Good thing Sloane likes the water. She’s turning into quite the sun-kissed summer baby. And how about that peas, carrots and tomatoes bathing suit? Pretty great! Also enjoying a little Euro ’08. There have been some good matches, making up for watching the US perform poorly in a recent round of friendlies. Summer is off to a great start.
Sloane got her first hair cut recently. She’s a little behind her friend Delaney, who had 7 or 8 by the time she was 18 months. Wow. But she was due for a little “shaping up.” She’s also working on using the potty, and doing pretty good. We’re slowly getting signs that she needs to go, or has gone, and we’re hoping to have it all synced up soon. The thought of having two babes in diapers is pretty motivating!
Suzi continues to grow as we get closer to the date. We can’t believe how soon no. 2 will be here. I don’t think we’ve quite realized how different things will be. We hear from everybody that going from one to two is an all-hands on deck operation. We think we’re ready! And we’re prepared for a girl as we previously shared. BUT, everywhere Suzi goes, people swear she’s having a boy. Even our family members are starting to question our ultrasound at 20 weeks. All I’m going to say is that the girl doing the sonogram DID look pretty young…
The new nursery is coming along, slowly but surely. We decided on a paint color; taped, primed and painted. Then realized that it wasn’t quite working. SO, we’ve taped and primed again, and will make absolutely sure we’ve got it right before the finish coat (maybe we should wait until August to be completely sure!). Sloane’s room turned out soooooo great, it’s a tough standard to match. Suzi and my mom did a great job. In fact, I’ll get pictures up soon to show off some of their work.
Suzi just returned from a visit in Poquoson, where they had a gathering of 4 generations of Walls girls. Suzi’s grandmother, her mother, herself and Sloane, of course, made for some great pics. Check out the youthful crew in the photo section. We’re looking forward to Matt and Julie being in town next weekend. Not just because we enjoy visiting, but they’re donating a couch to the cause that just isn’t fitting in their current setup. Woo-hoo! Thanks Matt! And Jeff and Elizabeth are due for a visit in August as Godparents for Fiona Hery’s baptism. I sense more burgers and beer in the near future, woo-hoo!
That’s all from northern VA. Hope you’re enjoying the pool wherever you are.
