Well, we’ve gotten a great response to all the photos of Sloane and family here at Anderson Ave., so I thought I’d make it a little easier for everyone to access and download larger versions of pics they like. Here’s the deal. When you are viewing a picture in the main viewing window in the Photo section (not as a smaller thumbnail), you can now click on it to jump to a larger image. Then, you can right-click to save it to your desktop. To get back to the photo group, simply hit the back button/arrow in your browser window. That’s it! I’ve gone back and added this feature to the “Home Body” and “Sloane Elizabeth” galleries. All of the future photo galleries will have this feature as well.
Here’s another cool component on the site. At the upper right of the home page, you may have noticed the graphic that reads “RSS Feeds Posts Comments.” This “Really Simple Syndication” feature is used on websites that have continuously updated content. When a user selects one of these links and bookmarks the resulting page, they are informed of new content on the site whenever they check their bookmarks. OK, so let’s run down some steps on how to do this…
If you want to be notified when we post something new to the site, click on “Posts.” If you want to know when someone has added a new comment to any of the posts, click on “Comments.” Now, the next page that you see will look like an unformatted version of Anderson Ave. Bookmark this page. The next time there is a new post or comment, your bookmark will look something like this: Anderson Ave. (1). The number in parenthesis after the site name indicates that there is one new post, or one new comment, at Anderson Ave. When you select your bookmark, you will be taken to the unformatted page where you can check out the new post or comment. If you prefer to check things out at the actual site, simply click on the Anderson Ave. heading at the top of the unformatted page and it’ll take you there. This unformatted bookmark page is just a starting point. Easy, eh?
We’ll post more pics soon!
