There’s No Place Like Home

Mother Nature has been kind to us for the month of February. Although it’s still quite cold, we have been spared all of the snowfall we are accustomed to seeing this time of year. We think it all went to VA instead!
Because of the cold temperatures, the girls and I have continued to be home bodies, only venturing out to do small errands here and there or to attend StrollerFit classes. Besides that, we’ve been enjoying a lot of playtime at home as well as a lot of baking in the kitchen. Nothing says winter like homemade goodies to fill our bellies!
Sloane still really enjoys baking and helping in the kitchen. This month we’ve managed to make pink waffles (our ode to Valentine’s Day), Gingergread cookies, double chocolate chunk cookies, muffins, waffles & our favorite, banana bread (which Sloane made totally by herself)! We’ve started to introduce Reese to helping in the kitchen as well, and she seems to enjoy it too, although she really needs to be watched closely. In time, I’m sure I’ll have two very competent cooks in the kitchen alongside me!
The girls are doing well and growing so fast. Sloane seems very tall lately and Reese is really all toddler these days (check out the bumps and bruises pics). They have so much fun together and constantly make each other giggle. Reese is really starting to talk a lot more and what we can’t understand, Sloane gladly interprets for us…thank goodness! They spend a lot of time reading books together, singing songs and dancing in the living room to music. They could dance forever if we let them. We’re enjoying every second of their ages and stages.
Last month we were lucky to have Matt in town for a quick visit. Sloane got a kick out of their “matching” jackets (see pics) and really enjoyed spending time with Uncle Matt. It was great to see him and catch up on the latest!
Some sad news for the month of February. Our beloved bounce house that Santa Claus delivered on Christmas morning suffered a hole! After many attempts to fix it, we finally came to the realization that we’d either need to get rid of it, or perform major surgery. While the kids looked on, Greg took scissors to the bounce house, did some creative cutting and it quickly became a “bounce pad!” Although it’s not exactly what I’d call SAFE, it still offers a lot of enjoyment for the girls!
Be sure to check out the pictures section. We’re hoping to post some video of the girls in the next week or so too. Hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day. As always, thanks for checking in on us.
