Yeah, Summer

It’s hard to believe that we are already approaching the end of June and that we’re halfway through 2009. Time may be flying by, but we are taking full advantage of the summer months!

Believe it or not, Reese will be ONE next month and is quite the busy body these days. She is dying to walk and really gets frustrated when she is sitting. So much so that she has come up with an upright crawl. Be sure to check out the videos we posted as well as the photos below. She is doing a great job of pulling up and cruising while holding on to furniture. She is very chatty and will repeat things like “baby, mama & dada.” Too cute and pretty amazing.

Sloane finished up her first gymnastics session at the beginning of June. It was an 8 week program for her age group. She really enjoyed it and learned a lot. The next session begins in July and she is signed up for Mini Gym, which is the next class up from her current class. It is a bit more structured and they are taught new skills with a little less parent involvement. I think I look forward to it just as much as she does. It’s really great to see her try new things. In the meantime, Sloane has really taken to the warmer weather. She is a big fan of her pool and it’s just warm enough to use it regularly. I’m hoping to get the girls to the “beach” aka-Lake Michigan here soon too. Unfortunately our girls aren’t very familiar with the beach and I definitely want them to grow up liking sand and water!

The girls and I did have the opportunity to attend a Garden Party at a local Historical Mansion. It was child themed and included things like a puppet show, face painting, magic show and crafts for the kids to do. The weather was perfect and with so much to do we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to go.

In mid-June we went and picked fresh strawberries at Stover’s Farm in Berrien Springs, Michigan. It is a family owned farm and they grow tons of fruits a vegetables throughout the year. The girls were able to pick and eat strawberries off of the vine. Sloane thought this was really neat and treated the entire farm as her own personal strawberry buffet! It was incredible how many we picked and brought home. We are looking forward to heading back to the farm in the next couple of weeks to pick sweet cherries while they are in season. Yum!

July looks to be quite a busy month for us with the 4th of July, visits from family, a few day trips planned and Reese’s 1st Birthday! There’s no doubt we’ll take tons of pictures so be sure to visit again soon to see what we manage to capture!
